Building of the Cathedral of Our Lady (Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal) was begun in 1351 and has never formally been completed. It is the largest cathedral in the Low Countries, combining gothic, renaissance, baroque and rococo architectural styles in a unique manner. The Cathedral also contains many fine works of art, including a marble statue of the Madonna from the 14th century and four baroque masterpieces by Rubens.
